Psalm 16:8

Psalm 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me;because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”

I have purposely put the Lord before me and I will not be moved. This was not an easy place for me to get to. To remain here can be difficult.  Patience is a weakness and waiting on the Lords timing hasn’t been easy. Through some rough times, I have learned that Abba is not only there for me, He is constantly before me, after me and with me. Though the enemy has been shaking things up, I know Abba is with me. I may get rattled, get angry, get frustrated, but it has been through the ups & the downs, I am learning to lean more in the Lord, and becoming less shaken.

Abba will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let me see stray to far from Him.

Proverbs 19:20-21

Proverbs 19:20-21 “Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”

“The purpose of the Lord will stand!”  You know those times where you give something to the Lord, then lose patience, take it back because you think the Lord is too busy, then work a plan, force a plan, and then it all crashes? There are countless times, more than I really care to share, where I concocted my own plans. A few years ago I began working on my Graduate Degree in Accounting. I was placed on academic & financial suspension when my GPA fell to 2.7. So I try another school, and begin only to have it stopped (they were unable to get my records). Then I tried another school only to be told prior to starting financial aid, grants & loans would not help….

I wanted & obtained my Bachelors Degree in Accounting. I wanted to continued and obtain my Graduate Degree & my Doctrine in Accounting. Yet my plans were not the Lords purpose.

Step back, pray, and listen. Is your path really that of the Lords?

Psalm 34:8

Psalm 34:8 “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”

When I read the ESV study notes on this verse its explains that the word taste is a commonly used word in the OT in a literal sense – the metaphor – “personal experience”.

Here we are being told by the psalmist to seek the Lord, take refuge in the Lord, and personally experience our Lord, and you will see that our Father is good.

There are times when life knocks the wind out of you, when rough times hit, lose a loved one, or money problems happen. For myself in the past few years I have began to seek refuge in Abba and have learned to ride out the storm with Him. Easy? no Painless? no. Stress free? Dont I wish! A Sense of peace? Yes. Faith? Yes

Storms pass and the rainbow comes out. If you truly open your eyes you begin to see the Lord is good!

1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.”

Christ died for us, the unrighteous, the sinners, the ones that fall short the glory of God. He died to for us so that we may be righteous before God. Jesus is the one that stands between God and us.

I love the view I heard a while ago. Jesus standing between us & God. Each time God looks at us, sees us, He is looking through Jesus.

Psalm 63:1

Psalm 63:1 “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

Sometimes in life there are periods of dry seasons. Seasons where you feel distant from God, or perhaps it doesn’t seem like God hears you. Sometimes we just have to earnestly seek God, be quiet and just listen. Then allow God to refill our soul!

Isaiah 26:4

Isaiah 26:4 “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”
ESV study Bible says this best “The vindication of faith is secured by the solid dependability of God.” What more is there to say. Complete and total dependence on God. Faith so strong that one depends on God with no question!
Faith so solid, so strong, so anchored in God that we trust completely in Yahweh without a single doubt. To have that faith, that trust….

Isaiah 55:6

Isaiah 55:6 “Seek the Lord while he may be found; all upon him while he is near;”

The ESV notes let us know that Salvation is God’s offer and he can withdraw it at anytime. This “offer of salvation should never be despised or rejected, for the opportunity may end at any moment.”

I could not even imagine God withdrawing his Salvation! Yet we know he does it. Saul for one…This is just a reminder that I need to continue to see the Lord and listen. I need to hear & listen to Him. I need to read His words daily. I need to go to Him during the good, the bad, the ugly. Even when I think He is far away, He is really near and I need to seek him

Proverbs 27:1

Proverbs 27:1 “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.”

I love the phrase tomorrow is not promised and the past cannot be changed so live today to its fullest. Good or bad, tomorrow has yet to come. So instead of boasting about things to come or dreading things will happen, focus on today. Be thankful for today and find a positive in today.

1 Peter 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”

Sometimes we forget, as sinners, that our salvation is not by what we do, or how we live, or even who we save/condemn. Our salvation is from God. It is through His love, His mercy, His sovereignty, & His grace that we are saved and born again! Though we may be unworthy, Gods amazing grace covers each and every one of us.

Proverbs 29:25

Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.”

Are we trusting in the Lord? Do we have faith in the Lord? Are our first instincts to fear others and not trust in the Lord?

For myself this has been an ongoing battle. I am good at keeping the good, the bad, the great or the ugly to myself. I am good at thinking “I’ve got this” when I really don’t. I am learning (over and over) it is the Lord who has it all. I am learning repeatedly the Lord is where I need to have my faith and whom I need to trust constantly. Our first instinct when blessings happen & when problems or pain arises needs to be to seek the Lord.
